Scott Buffington's Web Index
This is my official index for friends and family looking for one or all my web hangouts. Because none of the original domains contain a reference to my name, some have found the web sites difficult to remember.
- Scott Buffington's Blog - Nitevilla dot net - This is my .plan or blog. I write more broadly about homebrewing, beer, coffee, technology, geekery, gaming and other debauchery. Nitevilla.net is the best place to follow my current projects and whatever else I am involved with.
- Scott Buffington's Project Blog - UNIX Odyssey - This is my .project or project blog. Probably not particularly interesting as I mostly use this website to maintain and test changes to the Buff Content Management System I wrote in PHP. UNIXOdyssey.com is more of a geek playground for me, I have offered up some programs for download from time to time. What you find one day thought may no longer be available the next.
- CPUUG - The Central Pennsylvania UNIX User Group. I founded this group a few years ago to network with associates and to post some of my documentation. While the group never really caught on with those locally I will continue to maintain the website, forum and continue gathering documentation.
- Brutal Deluxe Football League - The Brutal Deluxe Football League. Known for the famed podcast, Alex Harden and myself created the first sports podcast ever produced and we are still actively recording our weekly fantasy football podcast during the NFL season.
What is this dot plan and dot project business?
For those of you who are old skool UNIX and Internet folks, you will recognize that the .plan and .project references are from the days of using the UNIX finger command. Both still work today, but most users have no idea of the command or the use of the .plan and .project files. I will not get into the security issues with finger. Just know these are names of files and programs from the past. If you create either or both files in your home directory and then execute finger followed by your userid, you will see the contents of the files. Once upon a time I served up my real .plan file as my blog.
